Also, this is a very user "unfriendly" device. Is a real shame that HP left everyone in the cold as this is a very powerful unit with lots of potential. I updated the maps and also added speed/safety cams software which does not come with the unit in the US. HP has abandoned users and there will be no more updates. Spend time reading the manual and learning how to operate it and you will be pleased, but this is not a plug and play device so if you are technically challenged this is not the device for you. Thankfully, map updates are available [.]. They have pretty much fixed most of the problems with the units but forget them for maps updates. from the navigation software manufacturer.
Sound - I have attached a small speaker. It looks very stylish and have a great picture quaility. For the 1st GPS from HP it does a great job. It does crash some time as you can expect it from a Windows operating system.
Nevertheless I am happy with the acquisition. The iPAQ 310 is an excellent machine but, perhaps due to its very high image quality - resolution and colour definition - the load on the processor is also very high and the result is that the speed of the device is not so brilliant.
Low speaker volume while driving.2. cumbersome and difficult to navigate while driving.5.
lucky to get 2 hours of battery life.9.POI's are many but hard to pull up and go to while driving10.ugly night time screen colors11. locks up, facilitating a reset8.
I bought this unit just over 1 year ago, so i believe I've given it a fair evaluation.Pros:1. alternate routes on the fly unavailable4.
piece of junk great resolution screenCons:1.
Text to speech undesernable(can't understand half the words)3.
Buy a Garmin instead - you won't regret it. Freezes repeatedly, menus are confusing and misleading, the volume is too low even when it's turned up all the way, routing is strange, 3D view is terrible. This is the worst, most user UNfriendly GPS I have ever used. I got it for free and I still think I spent too much.
